With the southwest monsoon on the wane and the Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region) bracing for a spike in winter pollution, Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav chaired a meeting Monday (September 28, 2026) with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi Environment Minister Maninder Sirsa, and senior officials of the Commission for Air Quality Management formalising a permanent institutional ‘action plan’ approach to addressing winter pollution in Delhi.

At least seven people have been arrested and five content creators booked by the police after a group of Muslim residents clashed with security personnel in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain over the proposed demolition of a portion of Shahi Mosque for a road-widening project, as part of preparations for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2028, an official said.
