Tooro tightens palace security as King Oyo body viewing enters final days

Tooro Kingdom has tightened security and access procedures at Karuziika Palace as public viewing of the body of the late Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV enters its final days ahead of his burial on Saturday.
The viewing, which began on Saturday after the King’s remains were returned to the palace in Fort Portal, runs daily from 11am to 5pm and is open to members of the public wishing to pay their final respects.
But organisers have introduced stricter measures after an individual reportedly recorded the deceased King inside the palace and shared the video on social media.
Richard Rwabuhinga, chairman of the organising committee, said mourners would no longer be allowed to take mobile phones into the viewing area.
