Tooro King Nyabongo asks parents to embrace measles-rubella vaccination

Tooro King Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I has launched a measles-rubella vaccination campaign in Fort Portal City, Uganda. The monarch personally administered vaccines and urged parents to prioritize the health of their children to ensure a stronger nation.
Why it matters
Royal endorsement of public health initiatives can significantly increase community trust and participation in vaccination programs in regions where vaccine hesitancy exists.
Tooro King Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I has urged parents and guardians to take their children for measles-rubella vaccination, saying protecting children's health is essential to building a healthy kingdom and nation.
The king made the appeal on Thursday during the launch of the measles-rubella vaccination campaign at Karuziika Palace in Fort Portal City, where he joined Ministry of Health and city health officials in administering vaccines to children.
Nyabongo I, who was crowned on September 29, said “the kingdom would work with the government to mobilise communities and ensure eligible children receive the vaccine.”
He said healthy families contribute to a healthy kingdom and country and urged parents not to regard vaccination as optional.
The king also pledged the kingdom's support for other public health programmes, including those targeting older people with illnesses, whenever the Ministry of Health rolls them out.
