Paramount Pictures has cast Anne Hathaway opposite Tom Cruise in Days of Thunder 2. Cruise revealed the casting on Saturday through his social media accounts. He posted a photo showing both actors posing beside a NASCAR vehicle in Daytona.
The sequel has locked in a June 2, 2028 theatrical release date. Filmmakers will shoot the project for IMAX, with Dolby, 4DX and premium formats also planned. Hathaway will reportedly portray a team owner and engineer in the racing follow-up.
Jonathan Levine has signed on to helm the project for Paramount. The studio has fast-tracked the sequel as Cruise's next major production. Cruise will reprise his role as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle from the 1990 original.
