Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president and MP Manickam Tagore on Thursday (October 1, 2026) criticised the Centre over the rise in commercial LPG cylinder prices ahead of Navaratri and Ayudha Puja.
He said the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Chennai had increased from ₹1,726.50 in June 2014 to ₹2,983 in October 2026, a rise of 72.78% during the Narendra Modi regime. He alleged that the increase was placing a heavy burden on small businesses, including restaurants and tea shops, particularly during festive seasons.
