TN property registration goes online for first sale: What you need to know

NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu government has made online, presence-less registration mandatory for the first sale of plots and flats in the state, with the State saying the move will improve transparency and reduce physical visits to sub-registrar offices. The initiative was launched on Monday and is part of the first phase of the Registration Department's transition to the STAR 3.0 system, as per a report by PTI news agency.What has Tamil Nadu changed for property registration?For the first sale of plots in layouts and flats in apartments, registration will now have to be completed exclusively online. The new system means buyers, builders and developers will not have to physically visit a sub-registrar office for these registrations.How to register in the portal?Builders, developers and applicants will have to create login credentials on the Registration Department's TNREGINET portal to submit their documents.
