Left-arm spinner Emanjot Singh Chahal (seven for 102) was on a roll in Saturday’s opening session, helping RoI bowl TN out for 462 in the first innings even though the home side was just two down at the 400-run mark.

Openers Angkrish Raghuvanshi (88 batting, 159b, 7x4, 1x6) and Ayush Jethwa (58, 98b, 4x4, 3x6) ensured there was no repeat of what transpired on Thursday, with RoI trailing by 88 runs while standing at 195 for two at stumps. Raghuvanshi, who garnered 149 runs with Ayush, was handed a reprieve on 32 when K.T.A. Madhava Prasad dropped one at silly-point.
