Why it matters
These letters reflect common public grievances regarding the maintenance of essential public services and infrastructure in regional India.
Tirunelveli reader’s mail Poor network connectivity During a recent visit to Thoothukudi airport, it was discovered that BSNL mobile network was completely non-functional after entering the check-in area. Upon enquiring about alternative connectivity options, the airport staff advised to connect the airport’s public wifi network. Unfortunately, that connection was also incredibly weak and unusable. A staff member subsequently informed that only a specific private network provider had functional network coverage inside the airport. It is deeply concerning that BSNL, a public sector telecom provider has not made the necessary efforts to ensure seamless connectivity at a key public infrastructure hub like airport. The concerned authorities are urged to look into this matter immediately and take necessary steps to ensure that all major mobile networks, including BSNL, are fully accessible within the check-in and passenger areas.
