Motorists are facing difficulties due to lack of proper signboards in Puthery, where four-lane flyover construction work is under way. The area is poorly lit at night due to absence of adequate streetlights, resulting in accidents involving two-wheelers. The district administration should take immediate steps to install proper directional signboards and adequate streetlights in the area to ensure the safety of motorists.

This is with reference to the article, “Tirunelveli Corporation administers anti-rabies vaccination to 2,026 stray dogs,” published in The Hindu on September 22. The Corporation’s intense vaccination and sterilisation drive is a praiseworthy measure for tackling rabies and controlling stray dog population. The project could enable several neglected community dogs to be safely neutered and vaccinated before being humanely returned to their original localities.
