Tirunelveli MP seeks better passenger-friendly amenities in railway stations on Tirunelveli – Shencottai section

Member of Parliament C. Robert Bruce has requested the Ministry of Railways to modernize several stations along the Tirunelveli–Shencottai section. The proposal includes upgrades to platforms, accessibility features, and passenger amenities to match better-equipped stations in other divisions.
Why it matters
Infrastructure development in regional railway networks is critical for improving public transport accessibility and economic connectivity in rural areas.
Member of Parliament C. Robert Bruce has submitted a memorandum with the Ministry of Railways seeking the modernisation of the railway stations on the Tirunelveli – Shencottai Section with all passenger-friendly amenities.
Mr. Robert Bruce said most of the railway stations in the Tirunelveli – Shencottai section viz. Tirunelveli Town, Pettai, Cheranmahadevi, Kaarukurichi, Veeravanallur, Kallidaikurichi, Keezha Aambur, Azhwarkurichi, Ranavasamudram, Keezha Kadayam and Paavoorchathram lack better passenger-friendly amenities. Barring Ambasamudram, all other stations in this section are under-developed and lack even proper concrete flooring, inadequate seating, proper fencing etc.
In contrast, the smaller railway stations like Sengulam, Panagudi and Dhanuvachapuram under the Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division have got better amenities.
Hence, the Madurai Division of Southern Railway should concentrate on creating better amenities in these railway stations.
