Tirunelveli Corporation administers anti-rabies vaccine to 2,026 stray dogs in three months; 204 dogs neutered

The Corporation has administered anti-rabies vaccine to 2,026 stray dogs and neutered another 204 neglected dogs in the past three months.

According to Corporation Commissioner Monika Rana, the urban civic body, following repeated requests from the public and councillors, organised special drives to control stray dog population within the city and administer anti-rabies vaccine to save the public from dog bite.

A total of 2,026 stray dogs were administered anti-rabies vaccine during a three-month-long drive and another 204 neglected dogs were neutered. The castrated dogs were released in places where they were caught after taking care of them for five days following the procedure.

A team led by Sanitary Officer Shahul Hameed, Sanitary Inspector Sindhu Selvi and veterinarian Sivaramakrishnan caught 20 dogs in busy Jeba Garden area of Melapalayam Zone during last week for administering the anti-rabies vaccine.
