Tiruchi administration plans to shift operations of mofussil buses to Panjapur from October 13
The Tiruchi district administration is shifting mofussil bus operations to the Panjapur Integrated Bus Terminus to reduce traffic congestion near the Chathiram Bus Stand. This move follows years of chaotic traffic conditions caused by the informal expansion of bus services in the area.
Why it matters
Urban infrastructure management is essential for improving public transit efficiency and reducing congestion in rapidly growing Indian cities.
As part of a multi-pronged decongestion plan around Chathiram Bus Stand, the Tiruchi district administration plans to shift operations of mofussil buses to the Integrated Bus Terminus at Panjapur from October 13.
The Chathiram Bus Stand that caters to town bus services and the mofussil terminus functioning on adjacent roadside attract thousands of commuters every day. The entire area bustles with buses dropping and picking up passengers. The mofussil terminus outside Chathiram Bus Stand has been functioning around the overhead tank complex-Kamaraj statue junction and along the road towards Anna Statue function without proper bus bays or shelters and other amenities.
