Tip Top Jelly Tip ice creams recalled over bacteria risk

Tip Top Ice Cream is recalling specific batches of Jelly Tip six-packs sold in New Zealand due to potential contamination with Bacillus cereus bacteria. The company and food safety authorities are investigating the cause, though no illnesses have been reported to date.
Why it matters
Food safety recalls are essential for preventing public health outbreaks and maintaining consumer trust in food supply chains.
Jelly Tip ice creams sold at Woolworths supermarkets across the North Island are being recalled over possible bacterial contamination.
The affected Tip Top six-packs should not be eaten.
New Zealand Food Safety (NZFS) is supporting Tip Top Ice Cream Company with the recall.
“They could contain the bacteria Bacillus cereus, which can cause severe gastrointestinal illness,” NZFS deputy director-general Vincent Arbuckle said in a statement this evening.
The recall affects Jelly Tip six-packs with a best-before date of September 30, 2028, and a timestamp between 3am and 5am, followed by the code L MO6252.
