Luke Evans felt a connection with Tim Curry .
The Rocky Horror Show star—who portrayed Dr. Frank-N-Furter on Broadway after Curry originated the role onstage and in the 1975 film—had reached out to the Hollywood icon with a touching letter before his death at age 80.
"He was very appreciative," Evans told Entertainment Weekly in an interview shared Sept. 11. "I think he was very sick when he got the letter—he was struggling a lot."
The Girl on the Train actor said he had learned the heartbreaking health update after speaking with the late 80-year-old's publisher following his Aug. 25 death from coronary artery disease .
"He struggled to speak and talk," the 47-year-old explained, "so I think he was really in a bad place, but what a legacy.”
