Ties between Centre and T.N. cordial: Nainar Nagenthran
BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran stated that relations between the Union government and the Tamil Nadu government remain cordial. He dismissed concerns about his presence at a recent event with the Prime Minister and urged the state government to focus on law and order.
Why it matters
The statement reflects the complex political dynamics between the central government and opposition-led states in India.
BJP State unit president Nainar Nagenthran said on Monday that the ties between the Union and Tamil Nadu governments have been cordial.
When asked about his presence on the dais along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the latter’s visit to Chennai on Sunday, even though he was not an elected representative or holding any official position during a press conference here, he said: “I cannot comment on that. Any VIP, who has been invited, could go.”
On Centre-State ties, Mr. Nagenthran recalled that Mr. Modi held the hands of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and both of them jointly inaugurated various projects. The demands made by Mr. Vijay was also those of the BJP in the State, he added.
