The Buffalo Bills played their first regular-season home game at new Highmark Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 17, against the Detroit Lions .

The Bills broke in their new digs in style, earning a 41-31 victory behind a stellar offensive performance from Josh Allen .

Allen was dominant from wire to wire against the Lions. He showed off his dual-threat ability early and often, running for 40 yards on the opening drive and notching two rushing touchdowns during the game. He also showed elite command of Joe Brady's offense, routinely finding wide-open receivers against a beleaguered Detroit secondary.

All told, Allen finished the day with 317 total yards and five touchdowns. Thursday marked the fourth game of his career during which he posted at least three passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns; Kordell Stewart is the only other player in NFL history to log multiple such games.
