I recently went to the ministry of home affairs to apply for my full birth certificate.

Outside I ran into a former member of parliament (MP) I had not seen in ages.

He had applied for a new passport the previous day and had just collected it – it took them only one day to have it ready.

This former MP could not stop praising the ministry for its quality service. I also came across a Namibian friend who lives in Canada, who was equally appreciative of the ministry’s services.

It took me about 30 minutes to obtain my full birth certificate; I could not help but praise the officials on duty for such quality service.

On the first floor there was a beautiful banner displaying the mandate, vision and mission statements, as well as the core values of the ministry.
