Three youth killed as speeding car crashes into bike in Kochi, driver booked

Three young employees of an antique shop were killed in Kochi after a speeding car struck their scooter in the early hours of Sunday. The driver and a passenger have been taken into custody and booked for culpable homicide.

Three youth, including two women, were killed after an allegedly speeding car struck the two-wheeler they were riding near Nedumbassery in Ernakulam district in the early hours of Sunday (October 11, 2026), the police said. The Nedumbassery police have taken the driver of the car and his fellow passenger into custody.
The deceased are Eyas of Coorg in Karnataka, Gopika from Mannarkkad in Palakkad, and Devika from Wayanad. They were employees of an antique shop in Thrikkakara.
The accident took place at Moozhiyal on Airport-Athani Road around 1.45 a.m. “The victims were returning from a shop. The car came from behind and struck the two-wheeler, fatally injuring the riders,” the Nedumbassery Inspector said.
The scooter riders were thrown away in the impact of the collision and the windshield and bonnet of the car damaged.
