Hyderabad police have initiated preventive action against three individuals previously involved in the illegal sale of prohibited Chinese manja. Authorities are conducting surprise inspections at kite shops to enforce bans on synthetic strings that pose safety risks to people and birds.
Why it matters
The enforcement highlights ongoing public safety and environmental concerns regarding hazardous kite-flying materials in urban areas.
The Goshamahal police initiated preventive action against three persons previously involved in cases relating to prohibited Chinese manja and conducted surprise inspections at kite and manja shops in Begum Bazar and surrounding areas on Friday (October 9).
The three were identified as Mohammed Abdul Rohait, 26, a resident of Begum Bazar, Ramesh Singh, 50, of Mangalhat, and Rohit Sankla, 30, of Bedarwadi.
According to the police, the trio were spotted behaving suspiciously in Bedarwadi, Begum Bazar, during routine patrolling. When questioned, their responses were found unsatisfactory. Further enquiries revealed that they had previously been booked in cases involving prohibited manja under Sections 125 and 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 5 and 15 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
