The Subramanyapura police have arrested three alleged mobile phone snatchers and recovered four mobile phones, ₹1,000 in cash and a scooter, together worth around ₹1.5 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Sheikh Maj, 25, Syed Afreedulla, 21, and Mohammed Sadiq, 21. The police said the trio allegedly targeted people in and around Subramanyapura and neighbouring areas.
The case came to light after a complaint was filed at the Subramanyapura Police Station on August 27. The complainant, Ajmal Khan, 21, told the police that he went to a grocery store in Kumaraswamy Layout on his bike around 1.30 a.m. While returning, three unidentified persons allegedly waylaid him near Singapura Garden, assaulted him and snatched ₹4,000 before fleeing.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under Section 309(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 and launched a probe.
