Three people, including two women, were killed and three injured in an accident involving a car and truck near the highway toll plaza at Chalageri in Ranebennur taluk of Haveri district on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as 27-year-old Siddharth, 29-year-old Hasanmukhi and 51-year-old Yashodhabai of Mouneshwar Extension in Davangere.

The three who sustained injuries have been shifted to a private hospital in Davangere for treatment.

According to the police, those in the car driven by Siddharth were proceeding to Davangere from Ranebennur and the truck was parked on the roadside near the toll booth.
