Three persons, including a minor, were held in Assam’s Hailakandi district in connection with the alleged gang rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl, police said on Tuesday (August 4, 2026).
The victim’s mother had gone to attend a function at a neighbour’s house on Saturday night (August 1, 2026), and after returning home, she found her daughter’s body lying in the room, they said.
Villagers immediately informed the Katlicherra police station, and the body, which also had visible injuries, was sent to the SK Roy Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination, they added.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted, and three persons were nabbed on Monday (August 3, 2026) in connection with the case, police said.
