Three held for taking liquor bottles to temple inside KMTR

Police arrested three individuals for attempting to carry 20 bottles of liquor into the Sorimuthu Ayyanar Temple, located within the Kalakkad–Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve. Authorities have strictly prohibited alcohol and tobacco within the reserve during the Aadi Amavasai festival to maintain order and sanctity.

Police arrested three devotees who were found carrying 20 liquor bottles to Sorimuthu Ayyanar Temple inside Kalakkad – Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve (KMTR) on Monday.
As Aadi Amavasai is being celebrated at Sorimuthu Ayyanar Temple near Papanasam dam inside the KMTR, the devotees have been asked not to carry liquor, banned drugs and tobacco products to the temple. Since the devotees would stay inside the forest during the celebrations, Forest and Police Department personnel would frisk them for these banned substances and liquor.
