'Three family members' found dead in Auckland's Papatoetoe
Police in Auckland, New Zealand, are investigating the deaths of three family members found at a residence in Papatoetoe. Authorities have stated that the incident is isolated and there is no ongoing risk to the public.
Why it matters
Tragic domestic incidents involving multiple fatalities often trigger significant community concern and require transparent police communication to maintain public safety.
Auckland Police say the three people found dead in Papatoetoe are family members.
In a video posted to social media, Counties Manukau District Commander Superintendent Shanan Gray said their condolences were with the family of those who had died.
"I know the family at this time will be reeling at the loss of three family members," Gray said.
Police were supporting the family, he said.
Gray reassured the community that it was an isolated incident, and there was no ongoing risk to the public.
Earlier, a man told RNZ he saw a body lying on the front porch of his neighbour's home as police and ambulances arrived at the scene.
Police responded to the scene on Cambridge Terrace after receiving a call at 6.40pm on Thursday about a dead person at an address, Detective Inspector Karen Bright said.
