The second edition of the Amaravati Literature Festival (ALF) 2026 opened at SRM University-A.P. with writers, scholars, translators, educators and cultural practitioners exploring how stories shape people, places and societies in changing times.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the three-day event on Wednesday, Guntur Collector C.M. Saikanth Varma said every person who approaches an administrator carries a story. Drawing on Amaravati’s more than 2,000-year cultural history, he highlighted its heritage, sculptures and literary traditions, recalling writers such as Gurajada Apparao and Unnava Lakshmi Narayana, who used literature to question social realities. He said administration, too, involves working towards giving people’s stories a positive ending.
Chairperson of the Andhra Pradesh State Creativity and Culture Commission Tejaswi Podapati stressed the enduring value of books, language and imagination in an increasingly technology-driven world.
