Three children drown in pond in Vizianagaram district

Three children drowned in a pond at Budarayavalasa in Merakamudidam mandal of Vizianagaram district on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Venkatesh, Hemasundar and Chandu, all aged around eight years.
According to locals, the children went to play near a pond that was brimming with water due to the recent heavy downpour. The bodies have been retrieved and sent to Cheepurpalli Area Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
