Three arrested in Tiruchi for possessing ganja

Tiruchi police arrested three individuals, including a woman from Odisha, for attempting to sell 3.5 kilograms of ganja. The suspects were apprehended in an autorickshaw and are now facing charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The Prohibition and Enforcement Wing (PEW) of the Tiruchi City Police seized 3.5 kg of ganja from an autorickshaw near Somarasampettai on Friday and arrested three persons, including a woman, on charges of possessing the contraband for sale.
Based on a tip-off, the police intercepted the autorickshaw and allegedly found Prabhakaran, 40, Jegan, 38 and Sangeetha, 42, possessing ganja.
According to the police, Sangeetha, a native of Odisha, had allegedly transported ganja from Odisha to Tiruchi for sale in the city. The other two accused are residents of Ramji Nagar. The police seized the contraband along with the autorickshaw and five mobile phones.
