Thousands brave the Himalayas for the sacred Kailash parikrama
Pilgrimage numbers to Mount Kailash in Tibet have reached 24,000 this season, showing a steady increase since the route reopened for Indian devotees. The season is expected to continue through September.

Around 24,000 pilgrims have visited Mount Kailash in China’s Tibet Autonomous Region since May this year with the pilgrimage season set to continue till September; the numbers so far are up from 20,750 last year when the pilgrimage was reopened for Indian devotees after a gap of five years.
