Thoothukudi Corporation plans 100% solar powered ward on pilot basis
Thoothukudi Corporation Mayor Jegan Periyasamy said steps are being taken to provide solar power facilities to residential and commercial areas across the Corporation limits.
He was speaking at a ward committee meeting for wards 1 to 20, held at Polpettai on Tuesday, in the presence of Corporation Commissioner S. Priyanka.
The Mayor said work was underway to widen the Puckle Canal, a major waterway in the city to prevent flooding during the monsoon. Around 4,000 roads had been laid in the city and parks, including an exclusive park for women, had been developed in various parts of the city.
Despite drought conditions prevailing across the State, water was being supplied without interruption every day to all wards of the Corporation, he added.
