Thoothukudi District Collector Vishu Mahajan chaired a district-level coordination committee meeting for the Thaimaman Thanga Mothiram scheme, under which one gram gold ring will be provided to all babies born in government hospitals in Tamil Nadu.

At the meeting, Mr. Mahajan reviewed the preparatory measures for the scheme, which will be launched on September 15. The departments of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Family Welfare and Government Medical College Hospital will jointly provide gold rings to 150 beneficiaries at the Government Medical College Hospital in Thoothukudi on the day of launch.

From June 22 this year, all children born in government hospitals will be provided the benefit through tokens on a reservation basis and arrangements have been made to provide it to 100 beneficiaries per day at the respective government Primary Health Centres and government hospitals, where babies were born.
