This UK supermarket sells food with the shortest shelf life of them all
A Which? investigation found that Waitrose delivers fresh groceries with the shortest average shelf life among major UK supermarkets. The retailer defended its position by citing a commitment to removing preservatives from its products.

Have you ever done a weekly shop, only to have items delivered which are about to go out of date?
A brand new Which? investigation has revealed which UK supermarket has the shortest shelf life for its fresh produce, and the culprit might shock you.
The consumer watchdog recruited 12 mystery shoppers across Britain to order the same list of 29 fresh groceries from Asda, Morrisons, Ocado, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose.
It then calculated the time remaining from delivery until midnight on the use-by date for each item and used this to calculate an average shelf life for each supermarket.
Despite being the most expensive supermarket, it was Waitrose which delivered products with the shortest shelf life, with the products lasting about 7.7 days.
