This cow has stopped laughing

The article critiques a marketing campaign by Laughing Cow for being tone-deaf regarding women's rights, contrasting it with more effective brand messaging. It also highlights the ongoing struggle for women's safety and representation in both corporate and social spheres.
Why it matters
It highlights the intersection of corporate marketing, social responsibility, and the ongoing global discourse surrounding women's rights and safety.
Last month, American cheese brand Laughing Cow removed the toothy grin from the cow’s face in some packaging. Labelled the “The Not Laughing Cow,” this was a marketing campaign that also said on the box, “We need to talk.” Hopeful that the cow had stopped smiling because of all that is going on in the world with women, I clicked on the news. I realised that the cow had stopped smiling because “she found people arguing over petty little things” that created a wedge between them (eyeroll). This is what it means not to read the room, or the country where women’s rights are being questioned.
