The Thiruvananthapuram Corporation on Tuesday (September 1, 2026) organised a mega cleaning drive at the General Hospital, which is being developed as the second Government Medical College in the capital. Some areas within the 20-acre compound of the hospital premises were filled with thick undergrowth and garbage. In the event of epidemics, this had a detrimental effect not only on those who came to the hospital, but also on the residents nearby. The area has also been a breeding ground for reptiles.
