Why it matters
The investment highlights the growing demand for premium coffee chains in India and the aggressive expansion strategies of domestic food and beverage startups.
Third Wave Coffee, a city-based coffee and food firm, has raised Rs 408 crore in a funding round led by existing investor WestBridge Capital while the round also witnessed participation from Creagis and other angel investors.
The new funding is expected to fuel Third Wave Coffee’s next phase of expansion, with capital directed towards geographic growth in existing markets, building greater density in high-potential cities and strengthening the brand’s ability to serve a wider range of consumer occasions, as per the company.
Third Wave Coffee has accelerated its national footprint by entering Ahmedabad, Mangalore and Agra last year while strengthening its presence across Delhi, NCR, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and Pune. In June 2026, it entered East India with three cafés in Kolkata. The firm is currently evaluating opportunities in other eastern markets, including Guwahati, Ranchi, Patna and Bhubaneswar.
