A thief made away with valuables worth over ₹1.42 crore from the house of a government official at Vidyanagar in Shivamogga in broad daylight on August 28.
K.N. Nataraj, a Panchayat Development Officer, reported to the Kote police that an unidentified person broke the lock and entered their house in the afternoon when no one was home. The intruder stole gold ornaments, cash, and wristwatches. Mr. Nataraj’s wife is also a government employee. The crime was discovered only when their daughter returned home in the evening.
