'There's no right time to do good': Singapore couple, kids hand out free drinks to runners

A Singaporean couple is teaching their children the value of community service by distributing free isotonic drinks to runners in their neighborhood. The initiative, documented on Instagram, aims to foster kindness and confidence in their children while supporting the local running community.
Why it matters
It highlights the role of grassroots community building and parental efforts to instill social responsibility in the next generation.
Syafa'at Rahman, 34, and Izyan Liana, 33, have been giving a real life lesson in kindness by handing out free isotonic drinks to runners and members of the public exercising at Woodlands Avenue 12 on Saturday (Sept 26).
The idea came after the couple saw an Instagram post from overseas showing somebody distributing drinks to long-distance runners as a gesture of support.
The couple told Berita Harian (BH) on Wednesday that they wanted their children not only to understand the value of doing good through advice, but also to experience for themselves what it means to help and interact with others.
Using their own money, the couple bought and prepared the drinks before setting up a small station with two of their three children.
An Instagram post about the initiative garnered more than 21,000 views, with their children seen holding a sign to attract people to the free drinks station.
