There Are More Potholes: Over 5 Million Euros Spent on Road Repairs in Latvia Since the Beginning of the Year
Latvia has spent over 5 million euros in the first half of 2026 to repair potholes on state asphalt and gravel roads. The volume of repairs has increased compared to the previous year, highlighting ongoing infrastructure maintenance challenges after winter.

There Are More Potholes: Over 5 Million Euros Spent on Road Repairs in Latvia Since the Beginning of the Year
In the first six months of 2026, potholes covering a total area of 187.2 thousand square meters were repaired on Latvia's state asphalt roads. This was reported by the Latvian State Roads (LSD).
A total of 2.52 million euros, including VAT, was allocated for the repair of the asphalt surface.
The majority of the work was done on local roads, where nearly 89.4 thousand square meters of surface were repaired. Approximately 80.1 thousand square meters were restored on regional roads, and 17.7 thousand square meters on major state highways.
Compared to the first half of last year, the volume of repairs has increased. At that time, road services repaired potholes covering an area of about 179.7 thousand square meters.
