The Open 2026 live updates: Leaderboard, scores, highlights, news from final round
New Zealander Ryan Fox won the 154th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale after a dramatic final round. He finished at 10 under par, securing his first major title by one stroke over Cameron Young.
Why it matters
The Open Championship is one of golf's four major tournaments, and this victory marks a significant career milestone for Fox.
Ryan Fox birdied the 72nd hole to capture the claret jug. The New Zealander finished one shot clear of Cameron Young, who posted 9 under more than two hours prior.
Fox shot 62-68 over the weekend to finish at 10 under and claim the first major championship of his career at 39 years old. The victory marked just the third time in history a Kiwi took home the Claret Jug.
Overnight leader Sam Burns shot 2-over 72 to end two back in solo third. Scottie Scheffler (67) and Tommy Fleetwood (68) tied for fourth.
