The author argues that the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI should include a feature allowing players to sit and lean on objects to improve immersion. Drawing comparisons to Red Dead Redemption 2, the piece suggests that idle animations enhance the player's connection to the game world.
Why it matters
It reflects the growing demand for 'immersion' and environmental interaction in high-budget open-world video games.
Manila Bulletin - The one feature I hope GTA VI will have
Grand Theft Auto VI is a couple of months away and if you're buying this game, ensure you've planned ahead and take the week off. The state of Leonida shows it will be GTA's wildest setting yet, with a hint of a ton of acitivities to do while outside missions. But the one thing I hope to see to make it into the game is the feature to sit. Sit in chains, in benches, in the street, by the curb, on the hood of the car, on the roof of the car, at the back of the pick-up truck, the feature to lean on railings, bollards, walls, cars, basically, any action that won't make your character idle awkwardly.
