The Odyssey has now made over US$600 million globally since its release

Christopher Nolan's film 'The Odyssey' has surpassed $600 million in global box office earnings. The movie achieved a strong second weekend, marking a career-best performance for the director.
Why it matters
The film's success highlights the continued commercial viability of large-scale, premium-format cinematic experiences in the post-pandemic era.
The film has also given director Christopher Nolan his best second weekend ever, not accounting for inflation.

The Odyssey continued to exert a mighty hold on moviegoers in its second weekend in North American theatres, with US$87 million (S$112.2 million) in ticket sales, according to studio estimates Sunday (Jul 26). That’s only a 30 per cent drop from its first weekend, an incredibly modest slide for a blockbuster. It’s also filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s best second weekend ever, not accounting for inflation. In 2008, The Dark Knight earned US$75.2 million in weekend two.
