Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, following an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. While the visit itself carries considerable diplomatic weight, another detail has drawn attention, the vehicle Xi is expected to travel in, the Hongqi N701, a heavily protected limousine built exclusively for China's top leadership. The car has the same symbolic value in China as the Hindustan Motors Ambassador once had in India.The N701 isn't a regular showroom model and has been derived from the firm's L5 Limousine. It's a bespoke state limousine from Hongqi, the luxury marque whose name translates to "Red Banner (flag)," and has previously accompanied Xi on overseas trips including Egypt, the United States, Russia and Hong Kong. Reports suggest only around 50 units may be built over the coming decade, reserved strictly for official state duties.
