The cable-stayed bridge will be fully closed only during the replacement of the cables - Mayor of Riga

The Mayor of Riga announced that the city's cable-stayed bridge will remain partially open during upcoming repairs, except during the specific phase of cable replacement. A temporary bridge is being procured to manage traffic flow during the construction period.

During the repair work, the cable-stayed bridge will still be open to traffic — at least one lane will be open in each direction. The exception will be the period during the replacement of the cables, said Kleinbergs.
At the same time, he did not deny that during the repair work, it will be necessary to reconstruct the intersections to ensure traffic on the planned temporary bridge.
"A competition will be announced, within which projects for the reconstruction of various intersections during the repair work will be developed," the mayor explained.
Kleinbergs reported that Latvijas Valsts ceļi is already preparing a procurement to acquire a temporary bridge. An agreement has been reached with the manufacturer that the bridge can be manufactured by the fall of next year.
