Kennedy was pipped at the line by Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme to claim silver in a thrilling men’s 100 metre final, but clocked a time of 9.85 to better Patrick Johnson’s previous Australian record of 9.93, set in 2003.
While Lewis bettered her own national record for a second time in the same day with a time of 10.99 to take bronze in the women’s 100m final.
