'That effort is garbage'

Former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick criticized Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix for a lack of competitive spirit and effort during a recent game. Despite the team's victory, Fitzpatrick argued that Nix's performance was disrespectful to the position.
Why it matters
Public criticism from high-profile analysts can influence fan perception and put significant pressure on young professional athletes and coaching staff.
Former NFL quarterback and Prime Video analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick had a harsh review of Broncos quarterback Bo Nix’s play Thursday night against the Seattle Seahawks.
Despite Denver winning the game 17-14 , Fitzpatrick said Nix was “not playing competitively.”
The 17-year NFL veteran spent more than a minute on Nix’s performance. The Broncos quarterback threw for just 107 yards on 17 completions, for a 71.1 passer rating. He hardly pushed the ball downfield and looked like the quarterback who’s drawn significant criticism over the previous few weeks.

“Part of it for me is Bo Nix is not playing competitively. It’s almost disrespectful to the quarterback position how he’s playing football right now,” Fitzpatrick said.
“How is he playing?” host Charissa Thompson said.
