The Thalaghattapura police have arrested a 32-year-old man within 24 hours of a chain-snatching incident and recovered a 29-gm gold chain worth around ₹2.5 lakh and an iPhone allegedly stolen in another case.

The accused has been identified as Santosh, a resident of J.P. Nagar 7th Phase. He was an autorickshaw driver. According to the police, the incident occurred on Saturday around 7.30 a.m. when the complainant was cleaning outside her house.

The accused, who arrived in an autorickshaw, allegedly approached the woman asking for directions to a nearby temple. When she came closer to the autorickshaw to guide him, he allegedly grabbed her neck, snatched the gold chain and fled.

The woman subsequently approached the police, who registered a case under Sections 309(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
