Thailand and Russia pledge closer cooperation after Anutin-Putin talks

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed to expand cooperation across energy, trade, AI, cybersecurity and security ties during talks in Kazan. Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to deepen cooperation in multiple areas, including security, energy, the digital economy, and artificial intelligence. Both countries aim to increase bilateral trade, which currently stands at $1.5 billion, and will continue negotiations on a free trade agreement between Thailand and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The leaders agreed to expand security cooperation in defense and information security, as well as collaborate on technology, public health, and education. Thailand and Russia will also strengthen tourism and cultural ties in preparation for the 130th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2027. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul held bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin , agreeing to deepen cooperation across multiple dimensions, including security, energy, digital economy and artificial intelligence, during a meeting on June 18 at the Kazan International Congress Centre in Russia.
