TGNPDCL crosses 100 MW solar milestone, targets 300 MW grid integration in 3–4 months
The Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company Limited has reached a 100 MW milestone in solar power generation under the PM-KUSUM-A scheme. The company plans to triple this capacity within the next few months to enhance renewable energy integration.
Why it matters
Scaling decentralized solar power in rural areas helps farmers generate income while supporting national renewable energy targets.
The Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGNPDCL) has crossed 100 MW of solar power generation capacity under the PM-KUSUM-A scheme across its 18 circles, marking a significant expansion of its renewable energy portfolio.
In a statement on Thursday, TGNPDCL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Karnati Varun Reddy said the achievement reflected the company’s focus on increasing renewable energy capacity and promoting a sustainable power system.
Under PM-KUSUM-A, farmers can set up solar power plants on their land and supply surplus power to the grid. The initiative is aimed at creating additional income opportunities for farmers while increasing the availability of renewable power at the local level and reducing dependence on conventional sources, Mr. Varun Reddy said.
