TGICET counselling: 19,526 MBA and MCA seats filled, over 16,000 remain vacant
The first phase of TGICET-2026 counselling for MBA and MCA programmes has concluded with 19,526 seats filled out of 36,241 available. While MBA programmes saw a 57% occupancy rate, MCA programmes lagged behind with only 39% of seats filled.
Why it matters
The data highlights significant disparities in enrollment trends between management and computer application courses, as well as between government and private institutions.
A total of 19,526 seats were filled in MBA and MCA programmes through the first phase of TGICET-2026 web-based counselling for the academic year 2026-27. Of the 36,241 seats available across 401 institutions, 54% were filled, and 16,715 seats remained vacant.
MBA programmes recorded a higher occupancy rate of 57% with 16,896 of 29,457 seats filled. MCA programmes saw 39% or 2,630 of 6,784 seats.
