TGHRC expresses concern over school infra in State

The Telangana Human Rights Commission on Monday recommended urgent measures to improve infrastructure and basic amenities in government schools across the State.
The Commission’s recommendation came in the August 3 case, when it took suo motu cognizance of media reports about students attending classes under trees, in verandahs and community buildings due to inadequate classrooms and facilities.
Reports from Adilabad, Jangaon, Nalgonda and Suryapet districts revealed deficiencies including dilapidated classrooms, pending repairs and shortage of toilets. In Nalgonda’s Vootkur village, students were temporarily shifted under trees while damaged tin-roof classrooms were being repaired following heavy rains, it was found.
