Tesla's fledgling Robotaxi business teased fans with a post on X saying, "no steering wheel, no pedals," a reference to the company's forthcoming Cybercab driverless vehicles. Another post prompted riders to " try it out" in Austin, Texas, and CEO Elon Musk said in a pinned post, " A storm of Cybercabs. "
Those comments on Wednesday came ahead of a planned event in Austin, where Tesla is expected to share more Cybercab details on Thursday. The stock closed 5.4% higher just ahead of the event. The company debuted the look and feel of the vehicle almost two years ago .
Musk's automaker designed the Cybercab as a driverless two-seater with butterfly doors that it said will have no steering wheel or pedals. The company has been testing a version of the "purpose-built" robotaxi with human drivers and traditional controls in multiple markets across the U.S.
